Almost There

Spring is upon us here in Summit County: the snow is melting, dirt is showing, powder is a distant dream, and beards are being shaved. In anticipation of spring I decided to rid myself of most of my hair and some more facial hair.

The new me.

Chad Vandelune came to Colorado with his entire clan this week and luckily I had a day off to meet up with him. Went over to Winter Park for the day and skied with Chad and some of his family. After a morning of blues and some moguls we met up with Dorothy and some of Chad's siblings for lunch. Dorothy was nice enough to pack me a lunch (smart thing - pack all the lunches and save all that money rather than eating from the cafeteria). After lunch Chad and I hit up the bowl and some tree runs. The snow wasn't great but the company more than made up for the lack. We had laughs and a few spills, and after the day Chad invited me back to have a big family dinner. There is no way I could pass that up.

Drove back to their cabin (freaking huge) at the YMCA of the Rockies. This place is amazing: 5100 acres of land and numerous cabins, activities, and nordic trails. I think this is where I'm headed for a vacation next year. Anyway, had a great time with Chad's family especially his nephew Drew who was one of the most animated kids I've met. Thanks Chad had a great time.

Wednesday was another day off and a sunny one at that. Some back-country skiing was in order for the day, but first had to clean off all the winter funk from the car.

Actually have to know where you are going to find this place. This sign isn't actually visible from the road, you can only see it once you park.

Spring is pretty.
