He Rides No More

He raced well.

He made the trip to Colorado.

Alas he will not make the trip to Moab or back to Iowa. Tonight I morn the loss of my Surly 1x1. Was all fired up to ride up to Montezuma after work today and went to go check the tire and see if I needed to bring a pump down with me. Holy crap! Wait a minute, where the french toast is my bike. Well damn the lock is sitting there, but it is not in one piece. Hot shit it is gone. Went into survival mode here but after searching and some sleuthing nothing turned up.

Went through the steps: made fliers, called the cops, and soon to file an insurance claim.

Ah an insurance claim, now my loss turns to the excitement of a new rig. Interesting how I could turn this quickly but I think I know why. This bike is the one I always kept and would never sell, NO MATTER WHAT. But now it was taken. I sit now and hope that whomever cut that lock will enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you Surly for all those years of fun but now your hooks in the garage will be taken by your orange-haired-step-cousin.

I like your "glass is half full" attitude. It was nice chatting with you at Big Creek. Have a good time in Moab.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I hope that your Surly bucks whomever the thief may be... often. Enjoy your new bike, you should go buy an Orbea from Rassy's. It'll be one of the best decisions that you ever made!

Good seeing you last weekend!
