Iowa is most definitely home for me. Not only is it where I was born and raised, but it is where I feel most at home. When I have been away people ask me why I live in Iowa or more often why I would choose to live there. Granted most have never spent quality time here but neither have they met all the people.
Nowhere have I me people like I have in Iowa. Returning to rides or seeing people around town all have told me they are glad to have me back. That is something nice to hear upon my unsure return.
Not sure where this post was going, mostly feeling bad for not having updated it since more return. I seem to be doing well with lists lately so why don't we venture into one of those. Hmm...now a title for it.
Lessons learned (or reminded of) in the last week:
1. Not riding for 6 months + coming to a Tuesday ride + pulling too long = DROPPED.
2. Cam is still fast. Does he ever get older?
3. Spring in Iowa can't compare to any other state.
4. Iowa has humidity.
5. Zanzibar's has good coffee.
6. There is nothing like a nice tacky trail at the Science Center.
7. Motorists here think bikers are either crazy, from another planet, completely inept, but most likely a combination of all.
8. Rasmussen Bike Shop is still wicked awesome.
Meant to get some pictures of the new rig, finally finished it. Pretty sweet.
In other news: leaving for Iowa City next week to help out Geoff at the shop and then the interview with the City of Des Moines on May 22nd. Until then I mentally prepare for Snake Alley, oh yeah, and physically prepare too.
