Sandbagging

This post has nothing to do with racing and this is the only thing to do with biking...

Riding to work to start the sandbagging.

Spent the early part of the week just wrenching away on bikes in Iowa City. The flooding got worse and Cedar Rapids became a disaster. Geoff made the call that starting Friday we will sandbag and start to empty the store out. We emptied the store of anything below 3 feet and the first load came around noon. Many people showed up (and thank you to everyone who did) and we were able to accomplish this...

In about 5 hours we made this all the way around the store. This was anything but a depressing time of sandbagging, more like a beach party.

Back in Des Moines as of tonight and just found out that the Hy-Vee Tri as turned into a "Dry-Tri." Had a great Father's Day with the old man, we went for a ride towards Ankeny. Quickly found out that a lot of the roads were flooded over so we ended up going back the same way we came. Not a big deal as it seems that Des Moines has become a ghost town lately, where did everyone go?

I leave you with this picture of Masky, our little raccoon buddy. He was flooded out of the storm drains in Iowa City and scampered all around the neighborhood screaming his head off. Poor little fella.
