Autumn Cometh

Though the first day of fall was way back on September 22nd, this week marks the official fall in my book. With fall brings cyclocross bikes, cold winds, knee warmers, and leaf peepers.

This past week has been raining off and on, though I have gotten a lot more riding in. All the landscaping projects are done and I'm not looking to take on anymore. Only one last project, a cruiser bike redo for Dan the Tattoo Man.

If you have seen my newest camera, the bulky thing usually sticking out of my jersey pocket, you will understand why I don't always carry it on rides. Though it does take amazing pictures it is quite cumbersome when I don't have a pack. I stuffed it in the pocket yesterday for some pictures of my ride.

Leaf peeping on the cross bike.

The Raccoon River off the horse trails. Did some laps back there and what a great time. Nicely slushy and didn't seen any hoofed friends either.

Aside from the beauty, stupidity was also present.

Although I am always in favor of more bike trails, don't you think they could engineer them a little better.

The trail going under Grand and 63rd St. Consistently "closed" even though it is just usually a little water or mud under there. This time: neither.

The new trail all black-topped on the south end of Water Works. It travels in between city street (speed limit 25) and the park road (slower than 25 I think). Does this speak of redundancy to anyone else?

My theory on the redundancy issue is that officials are trying to segregate cyclists and motorists. Bad idea! If neither group is exposed to the other than neither will know how to properly deal with the other.

Thanks for stopping by, now go enjoy the season change.
