Everybody knows a one-upper, the perpetual "I am better than you" stories ad such. Well this day was defined by one-upping.
It starts out with a call at 8:30 that the Gondola will not be running. Now this is a problem since the Tubing Hill is on top and relies on the Gondola to get people up there. Since the boss is out of town I had to go in on my day off to handle this.
1-up #1) I am about to leave when over the radio I hear that the Windows (amazing tree runs) just opened. I'm throwing my ski boots on as quick as I can to make first tracks, Jeffy joins me.
1-up #2) We make it almost to our first trail when we see that Lift-Maintenance has buried a snowmobile on its side in 2 feet of powder. We stop and help them get it out, takes about 30 minutes.
1-up #3) That two feet of powder we were digging in is just the beginning of the deep stuff. We end up past our waists in powder, best turns yet this season.
1-up #4) I drop off a small cliff and punch through about 4 feet of the stuff, buried up to my chest with my left arm out and my right way down in the snow. When I landed my right thumb hit something hard (rock or tree I don't know) and sent shooting pains. It isn't broken but it is pretty swollen and purple.

A little on the purple side.

The one in back is a little thicker.
And to top it all off with number 5, I bought six bagels at the grocery store for $1.09, get to the truck and think "Hmmm...I'm hungry what could I munch." Turns out I got a free maple and walnut filled crossiant in my bagel bag.
Ended up being an awesome day, now time for some poker night.

Sounds like on of Grandpa's fishing stories to me....you sure you weren't thumb wrestling with one of your poker buddies? Better yet you broke it shuffling the cards...what a wussy:) Heal up buttercup:) Would love to make it out your way sometime this winter.....
Peace
Take another picture of your thumb for mom today. I hope you are doing okay. Ignore Squirrel. I feel sorry for you.
Squirrel is just jealous and even though thumb wrestling is intense, that guy would have had to have a monster on him.
Mom, don't worry I'm fine.
i hope you don't get a papercut from the cards at poker....
the little "extra" in the bagel bag sounds like quite a treat.
Jealous....uhm hell yeah! Between Carney, Kerkove and now you again...I freaking jonesing to get out there and play.
Peace
