Vail Resorts issued pay cuts in varying percentages beginning April 30th. This wont affect me this year but will will cancel out most of my raise I got this year for next season's wages. This is okay with me since it is better than losing a job. After some discussion with my roommate on this it is interesting that companies don't encourage good business and don't punish those doing bad business.
Here is an example:
AIG received $170 billion in taxpayer money as a bailout, they will continue to pay out bonuses this year. Including bonuses to those executives in the same business unit that brought about the collapse of the company last year.
Keystone Mountain Operations (this includes: patrol, tubing hill, lifts, mountain watch, guest services, lift maintenance, Adventure Tours, and grooming) will be receiving pay cuts and no bonuses. Mountain Ops is currently (as of Thursday) at 85% of labor budget and 96% of last year's labor while coming in at 110% of projected revenue.
Homework:
Convince me why this seems right.
In other news it is projected to be in the low 50s for the next 5 days here, makes for interesting snow conditions. Keep your fingers crossed that we can tube until Easter. Well off to groom the hill now, speeding around (at 10 mph) in a cat for around 3 hours. Trust me it is actually enjoyable and relaxing.

Back work slave. The rich need their cigars and their wives' botox paid for.
How about blogging about fun cool stuff...like mtn biking...or skiing or something happy. I'm still planning to come out in July, so you better spend a little less time reading and complaining about crooked politicians and business execs and more time getting in shape so that we can ride.
