Well not really, but a fun time was had. Though I don't think my camera left my suitcase. The problem I have with taking pictures in DC is that I have taken most of the shots before so I tend to not take the camera along.
My dad and I arrived mid-day Saturday and quickly were whisked off to Mt. Vernon by my sister and Peter. Spent the rest of the day there, oh but wait. Before that we stopped in Olde Town at the Chipper. Let me say, eating out of a brown bag you ripped open on a bench, brilliant.
Sunday was brunch at Peter's uncle's house, great spread including locks and bagels and some whitefish salad too. That night it was off to Peter's soccer game, they won 3-1. When we arrived, there was a medi-vac helicopter landing on the upper field, it stayed there for about 30 minutes and took off.
The sis took Monday off and we headed off to the newly renovated American History Museum. Saw Dorthy's ruby slippers, Colbert's portrait, and Julie Childs' Kitchen. That night was my dad's birthday gift, a Leonard Cohen concert at the Meriweather. Tailgating before the concert was awesome: beets with goat cheese, coleslaw, roasted chicken, strawberries, and wine and beer. After the perfect weather we'd been having it looked like rain, and just before the band walked out it started. Rained the entire concert but still had a good time.
Tuesday consisted of some more Smithsonian action and then flew back Wednesday afternoon.
Now its time for a ride.
