The Car Allowance Rebate System seemed like a great deal, up until midnight last night. Lots of confusion: there is no money, there is plenty of money, stop taking trade-ins, take as many as you can. With this many dichotomies surrounding $4,500 in potential rebate towards a new car, consumers should be wary.
The website states the rebates go until November 1 of this year with no mention of suspension as of this morning. Why would the government send mixed signals? If they are in fact suspending the program why hasn't the website been updated? This is the technology age and if I can update how can the government not?
If you are thinking about buying a new car, get the rebate ASAP. You never know when the government will just go ahead and change it's mind.

don't you have a problem with the government using your tax dollars to incent someone to trade in their old suburban for a new hummer? (yes, if the hummer gets 1 mpg more than the vehicle being traded in, it qualifies, though only for $3500 of yours and my tax dollars) heck, i don't think my tax dollars should be spent to incent anyone to buy a new car of any type. just my thoughts. the other part that bothers me is that the financial institutions making the loans for the new cars are probably using my tax dollars to do it. (bailout money) it's messed up buddy. drink more beer!
oh! and on a more sorrowful note: my brother came up from alabama and brought me a bottle of buffalo trace. what's sad about that, you ask? when he pulled into my driveway and opened the door of his truck, the bottle fell onto the concrete and broke. i nearly cried. we licked what we could off of our fingers.... true story, buddy. :) (they now carry buffalo trace at hy vee wine and spirits on kimball here in waterloo)
