New Trails

The five-way intersection just north of the Dredge presents very differing options. A climb up to it from the Ranch; two whoop filled descents - one ending in rocky goodness, the other filled with brake bumps; a dead end into a massive meadow, and the final being my favorite. This is the only trail that starts by going up - so for some the most unlikely to me taken. After having explored all other options in past rides I finally made the grunt up the entrance. Rewards? Oh just several banked turns involving a perfect radius, some log jams, and rhythm to make a drum line swoon.

After having left Crested Butte last weekend I stripped my bike for a good mid-season (nearly end-of-season) clean. I decided to take off my suspension fork and ended up putting it on my singlespeed. For some reason that must have to do with fit and the alignment of the cosmos when this bike is under me. My geared Gunnar sits upstairs on its rack with the handlebar dangling by the cables, and I find myself going faster and harder. Perhaps I should return to riding more gearless bikes.

Weather threatened my parade all day.

Final climb up Rosseter, then down Soda Flume.

Snow is here to stay on Baldy.

Atop the climb sits a pet memorial.
