Riding Bikes

That was the theme of my past weekend. I loaded up the truck with my mountain bike, a couple of kits, a cooler full of beer, and some sweet corn. After arriving in Iowa City I found Brabbit on the couch so I quickly suited up and went out for a gravel ride with him and Seth.
Brian and Seth, Team Redline Hawkeye, rollin' along on Newport Rd.
Just one of many awesome gravel roads surrounding Iowa City.
A camel in Iowa City? That is ridiculous!
He tried communicated with us.
Brabbit picked up an old beer can on the way back, it made quite an annoying noise.

Fast-forward to Sunday. Drove further east to Quad Cities for some racing fun. First I have to say absolutely an awesome course and the volunteers/marshals were equally as rad. Now to bore you with blow by blow details.

The race started climbing a paved hill and my heart was quickly in my throat. This is where it remained for most of the first lap. Then I rode for another 2 hours with my body somewhere just south of wanting to stop. Then I did stop and my body thanked me. Got second which got my enough money for gas home and post race meal with the crowd from Iowa City in Davenport before our departure. Another sweet thing about FORC races...they give out Thomson gift certificates.

That's all from here, now to mentally prepare to work on a few thousand bikes in small towns all across the state.

Nice job Andy, you must be training to win RAGBRAI??

Gotta feel good to get in the dirt again. I rode SC last night for a while but could only do Hillside. It's all good.
