Okay so the lack of pictures is due to the fact I am having camera issues. Turned out it was something simple and was quickly remedied but the result is no pictures over a great weekend of riding.
I got in 3 different trails in Evergreen (had to drop someone at DIA so I thought why not ride somewhere different) on Friday. After 3 hours and my truck in sight I thought I'd drive west, stop in Georgetown for a quick bit of the dirt, and then head home. "Burp!" said the tire, a first for me. And there I am with thoughts of more singletrack in my head flying through the air. Split second rememberance of how to fall and I'm on the ground. Two banged up knees, a few sore ribs, and a scuffed up left forearm. Great thing is nothing got broken on me or bike and I never hit the head, usually I am good at that one.
Fast forward to Saturday, which brought nearly 5 hours of fun. Started out with a little bike path to Summit Cove. Up Soda Creek to the Colorado Trail, takes you over towards Breck, and then hope on another section of the CT. That second section was entirely up for 3 miles, gaining something like 1800 feet in the process, oh yeah! Rail the Peaks Trail and Miner's Creek to Frisco. Oh hot damn I love Miner's Creek! Railing along a creek for miles, perfect pine-needled trail. Losing elevation at that perfect rate, making everything come together.
Sunday came and I needed some recovery, skinny tire it out to Breck (avoiding Swan Mountain and taking the long, flatter way around). Listen to a little John Denver tribute on Main Street and back I went. Hard not to jam the gears leaving Breck, slight downhill, and usually a tail wind. TT at around 38 mph, made me think of TTT in Iowa (how I never did it and never plan to).
Before I say farewell I'd like to share this article with you, posing a couple questions along with it. Preface this by I take pride in my work and have high expectations for a projects outcome. But why do American's think it wrong to leave work for themselves for the following week? Why do we impose such strict deadlines on ourselves? Why can't we relish in the fact that our company is giving us a 3 day weekend? They are paying us to work less but we work the same, this seems wrong. The point to make if the worker feels cheated is to show the company they can't afford to give workers furlough thereby creating too much work before deadlines. My position with Keystone is awesome, I work 4, 10 hour days; and have May and October off. One of the few "corporate jobs" that seem to mimic the European work schedule. Discuss...
Well off to a great day of work, sun it out with some whispy clouds in the sky. Whispys are foreshadowing those awesome rain showers that will come, most likely as we are spreading hay. Mmm...the smell of wet hay.
