Up and Over

So the rain made me skeptical of embarking in an off-road ride, so here I come skinny tires. Four hours, about 68 miles, and a few nice stints topping 40 mph. First venture over Vail Pass, I've ridden up and then back several times just never dropped over to the west side. It was quite a reward: 12 miles of downhill and 2 miles of that I never dropped below 40 mph - hitting 45 in the process. The climb back out was long and grueling but I knew to expect a downhill nearly all 22 miles back.

Looking back west after starting the climb out of Vail.

About 4500 feet of climbing today, makes the beer go down nice right now. Off to clean the bikes and throw the frisbee for Dakota. Tomorrow's plan is ride over to Breck, do one lap of the Firecracker 50 route (25 miles), and back to Silverthorne. Start pushing snow out on Tuesday for summer tubing, this will be interesting.
